Austria Olmutz. Rudolph Johann Taler 1820 MS64 NGC, KM494
Austria
Olmutz. Rudolph Johann Taler 1820 MS64 NGC, KM494. Exhibiting a deep cabinet tone with hues of muted burgundy, this sublime near-gem also boasts an enchanting underlying luster. A fairly scarce piece to begin with, it becomes excessively so in this wondrous state of preservation. Its only detraction is a slight flan flaw before the ear of Rudolph Johann---a man who held the titles of Archduke of Austria, Cardinal, and Archbishop or Olmutz, and who was also a leading patron of the arts and to the work of Beethoven.
